Circular Perspective

Genre: Character study
Pairing: Jack, Rose and the Doctor. As shippy as you want it to be.
Word Count: 271
Rating: G
Warnings/notes: I don't think anyone minds two posts in one day?
Summary: Between Jack, Rose and the Doctor, time is circular and so is their perspective.

Backward
It's not that Jack doesn't care about Torchwood or regrets meeting them. He didn't let Ianto quit, didn't bother to punish Tosh, didn't ever really want to let go of Owen, and can't stand to watch Gwen with Rhys because he is the one thing that could take her away.

It's just that he can't see them.

He can only see into the past, when Rose bit her bottom lip and grinned after he kissed her for the first time and the faint smile on the Doctor's lips when Jack kissed him for the first time.

Present
The tears slipping into her mouth are salty and her hand hurts from slamming on the door wall so hard. If she had the strength, she would tear the wall down and run to the Doctor. She was torn away, but it somehow feels like she left him and the idea makes her want to slip to the ground and never stand up again.

Wiping the tears off her cheek roughly, Rose turns around and walks towards her family.

There is a fantastic life she has to live, even if it feels like her heart has been torn out and ripped to shreds.

Forward
Genuine hope is something the Doctor has not felt in a long time, not since Rose's hand slipped exactly one year, five months, four days, and two minutes ago. But Jack is right, humanity is at the end of the universe and that's something.

Even if saying Rose's name is still as difficult as ever.

He grins back at Jack and feels like it's the first time he's smiled in one year, five months, four days, and five minutes.
