In a Moment

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha.
Summary: Kagome gets a chance to change to change everything. To warn Kikyo of Naraku, but at a heavy price.
When Kagome had seen Inuyasha vow to protect Kikyo forever, it finally struck her that she had fallen in love with Inuyasha.
Kagome I...
She didn't allow him to explain. She was afraid of the answer she knew in her heart. Inuyasha's heart still-and will always-belong to Kikyo.
So she ran.
She was determined to go home and never come back. How could she ever compete with Kikyo? Kikyo and Inuyasha understood and bonded with each other in ways she could never understand. She could never break the bond between the two of them…
Do you really feel that way?
“Who’s there?” Kagome asked as she spun around, looking for the person who had just spoken.
I ask again, do you truly feel that Inuyasha and Kikyo are meant for each other? That you and Inuyasha are not meant for each other?
“Kikyo, I will always protect you.”
“Kagome…I.”
The scene of Inuyasha embracing Kikyo burned in Kagome’s mind and without a second thought she said, “yes.”
So, are you willing to prevent Naraku’s trick in order for the two of them to be together?
“Who are you? Where are you? How do you know about all of this?” Kagome snapped as she continued to twirl around.
I am just someone who is willing to set things, as they should be. I will ask you once more before leaving if you are willing to prevent Naraku’s trick?
Normally Kagome have demanded more answers before agreeing to anything she couldn’t see. Spending so much time searching for the jewel shards and fighting demons had given her plenty of extra common sense.
But, after finally admitting her feeling of Inuyasha to herself at the worst possible time, Kagome’s inner strength seemed to vanish.
“Yes.”
Warn Kikyo.
In a blink of an eye Kagome found herself facing Kikyo.
“Who are you?” Kikyo asked coolly as she grabbed her bow.
Kagome held up her hands in a single for peace. “I am unarmed. I just have a message for you.”
“I sense something strange from you,” Kikyo said as she drew an arrow. “Explain before I kill you.”
Kagome clenched her fists as tears feel down her face. “Inuyasha would never betray you! He loves you with all of his heart. Believe that!”
Before Kagome could hear Kikyo’s response, she found herself in her bed and alarm clock beep.
“Kagome, why are you sleeping in on your birthday?” Kagome’s mother asked and knocked on her bedroom door.
“My… birthday?” Kagome asked.
She entered the room, “how could you forget your fifteenth birthday?”
Kagome’s eyes widened as she ran past her mother and to the well as fast as she could all the while hoping that her worst fears were unfounded.
